Who can apply?

Students who will be in 11th or 12th grade
SAS is designed for motivated and academically talented 11th and 12th grade students whose needs are not met in the traditional high school setting. The school is not a magnet school. Student selection is based solely on the order of application among students who meet the basic requirements for admission. Students apply from all senior high schools in the district and numerous private and parochial schools. Additionally, many home-schooled students choose SAS to complete their secondary studies and begin the transition to college.

What do I need to do to apply to SAS?

minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
record of good attendance
record of good citizenship
submit an application to SAS and MDC (both turned in to the SAS site you hope to attend)
Pass all sub-tests of the College Placement Test (CPT)

**For Help Passing the CPT, Click Here**

or

Provide SAT/ACT passing scores (SAT Math 500, Verbal 440; ACT English 17, Math 21, Reading 18)

or

Provide FCAT passing scores (Rdg Level 4 or 5; Math Level 5)
Meet with counselor for final intake information

When and how should I apply?

In mid-October of your 10th grade year, call any SAS campus to find out the dates and times of recruitment/information meetings at the various sites. At that meeting, you will receive applications and more specific instructions about completing the application process. After the meetings have been held, you may stop by any location to pick up additional applications.
